#NationalSistersDay and #FriendshipDay

I will admit that I don’t keep up with today’s daily memes or Twitter’s daily hashtags, but today’s hashtags struck a chord with me. If you’ve followed the blog and on social media, these two lovely ladies are my “best friends” and my “sisters”. My other friends and I like to keep a low profile, but we always share pictures of our doggies. My dogs are my best friends and my sisters. I didn’t have siblings. And for us “only child” it may be nice having all the attention and but other times it’s very lonely.

Once I met these ladies, I was hooked. Again, I was never much a dog or cat fan. But once, you have pets then you become hooked. I don’t know what will happen if I have kids. I might get hooked.

My eldest dog is named Tinkerbell (after Peter Pan! Not Paris Hilton) and she’s 12 years old. I can’t believe it. She’s on the left side and is she’s beautifully all tan with some grey(NO!) hairs and has beautiful hazel green eyes. I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks. It was love at first paw for the both of us. She’s always there when I need her. She suffers from anxiety like I do, so she knows it feels. She loves burying herself in her blankets and pillows. She will hog the entire bed. Unbelievable, a tiny Chihuahua taking up the entire queen size bed. She gets very (I mean very) hysterical when I leave for work everyday and have to do errands without her. I typically take her in the car with me because she loves car rides. Everywhere I go, people always tell me how cute she is and if they can pet her. She’s very chill and loves to hang outside in the warm weather and just roll around in the grass. She has decreased my anxiety and depression so much with her presence. She gave me meaning in my life and a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Lord knows what will happen, when she passes on. I don’t want to think about that anytime soon.

My youngest dog is named Ariel (after The Little Mermaid) and she’s 10 years old. Again, where does time really go? She’s all white with a half dipped ear that’s all brown. It was so cute when she was a puppy and her ears couldn’t pop upright. She is the complete opposite of Tinkerbell. This girl is feisty, sassy, and quite the diva. She demands for you all of your attention, not just some. She loves being the center of attention. She will growl at you and bite you if she doesn’t know you. She scares the crap out of contractors that come to my house for repairs. They will call or text me because they’re afraid to ring the doorbell and not take the chance. She’ll take a little chunk of your skin when she bites, but it could be worse if provoked. I will not let anyone pet her simply because she’s a growler and a biter. You do have to muzzle her at the vet or else you’re going to get bit. She loves to mess with the two larger dogs that live next door and tells them who the boss of the hood is. I’m waiting for the day when those two larger dogs confront her face to face. Let’s see what she does then.

I have a small group of friends and sometimes with friends there will be fights and disagreements. But I enjoy having them around. My other friends (my dogs) are my best friends, too. They always put me a good mood and give me unconditional love that I have never experienced before. In short, they’re both my friends and my sisters. Always!

FYI, they are both pure bred Chihuahuas.
